mentorship
Mentoring students is one of the most rewarding experiences as an academic and one that I have thoroughly enjoyed. To strengthen my mentoring practices, I participated in an NSF workshop at UT-Austin titled Inclusive Mentoring of Undergraduate Researchers in STEM. From this workshop, I have incorporated the following key points into my own mentorship practices: (1) active listening, (2) clear communication of expectations, and (3) fostering a reciprocal research compact. These values have guided my approach since then and have helped me collaboratively work with undergraduate, graduate, and medical students at UT-Austin and Stanford (see below).
